The poetic contribution of Mahmoud Salim Darwish is presented in this paper. He is among the best Arabic language poets for national identity and patriotic literature writers and poets. This paper is meant to delve into connotation of acquired knowledge about his work and his poetry for understanding the significance of national identity and patriotism in his poetry. The study is based on literature available on his work as appreciation or criticism for his individual work, Arabic poetry and literature on Palestine issue. Further, paper demonstrated the importance and uniqueness of Darwish literary contribution in Arabic poetry and national identity. At the same time, paper presents the meanings of patriotism described by Darwish and the issue of Palestinian. The conclusion of literature review on poetic contribution of Darwish has narrated the pain of being refugee in your own homeland and the Journal is characterized by its sarcasm especially stating the law.
